| FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) |
Why don't you sell silver per gram anymore? What's your price per gram?
From June 1999 until July 2003, the market price silver remained generally stable under USD$5.00/oz (or about USD$0.17/gr). The beading world benefited greatly, and as the beading trend boomed all over the world, we all feasted on the cheap price of silver. The stability of the market price of silver, the main component for pricing silver products, lended itself to "per gram" pricing of those products. Per-gram pricing was also influenced by the lack of variety of silver beads (I'm referring to the way they're produced).
Naturally, the increase in the market price of silver changed the product market for silver beads. Indoexpo, Inc. is currently striving to create the best selection of the most interesting, most unique, most beautiful silver components you can buy. Of course, we're still making all the standard Bali Silver items, and we're striving to make them size and weight consistent every time you order them. But to more completely achieve our goal, we're using different production techniques and technology to offer our clients new and different products not commonly available on the market today.
Everyone knows that while the classics have their place, it's the exciting new items that draw responses like, "My goodness, where did you get that bead?"
So what's our price per gram? It really depends on the item. We're not selling chicken breasts, deli meat, or potatos: other items commonly sold by weight. Some things cost more to produce than others. Ask yourself if it seems logical that a simple daisy spacer should be the same price per gram as any of the more complicated and decorative beads you see on our site.
In the end, most clients need to know how much something costs. One toggle, for example, might cost $2.20. We have found that pricing items per piece (or packages of pieces) makes it easier for clients to calculate the actual cost of any product we sell.
The "Basic Bali" category is where you can find packages of 25 grams of most of the standard Bali Silver Spacers everyone uses. Everything else silver in our site is priced per package, and each package has a particular number of pieces in it.
