Cannabis Pesticides
Organic Pesticides
Organic pesticides are any substances used to control pests made from naturally occurring ingredients (according to this official USDA list of substances that can be used for organic farming.) Organic pesticides can be used to destroy insects, fungus, rodents or weeds.
Synthetic Pesticides
Synthetic pesticides are any product that has been artificially created or modified for the use of killing garden pests. These can include herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, rodenticides or any product used to kill microorganisms. They’re less expensive and more effective than organic pesticides, though carry heavier health questions and environmental effects.
Natural Predatory Insect
An insect that is introduced to cannabis grows space to prey on pests that would be more harmful to the crop. These can include ladybugs, pirate bugs, praying mantis, mites, nematodes and more. Often a specific insect will be chosen to target a specific pest, though some will have a more general purpose.
