Soil Ecologist at Miller Soils
Your plant’s success is highly dependent on its environment. The rhizosphere is the dynamic area around the plant’s roots, which is just as important as the area around its leaves and buds. In this session, we will cover plant physiology, basic soil science, microbiology, the soil food web, plant nutrition, and root uptake. These “rootimentary” concepts are relevant for all cultivation methods and growing medias, from hydroponics to native soil.
Sunny Kaercher is a strong advocate for making existing industries more sustainable, specifically by looking at closed-loop system design for cannabis production. An avid lover of the outdoors and natural systems, Sunny recognizes the importance of soil to support all living things. She works for Miller Soils, offering Biochar-based grow medias designed to mimic ecosystem balance and encourage beneficial biology. She has degrees from CU Boulder in environmental design/land use planning and environmental policy, as well as a natural resources GIS certificate.
