Weed Parties for Seniors is Now a Thing
When you’re reading as much cannabis news as I am, every once in a while you come across something truly awesome.
Octavia Wellness, written up in a beautiful article by Quartz, is bringing clarity and guidance to seniors who seek cannabis treatment for the various symptoms they are encountering. Especially those on opioids, who are using cannabis to mitigate the side effects of their medication.
The startup, founded by Carrie Tice in April 2015, visits senior living facilities to have meetings where residents get help with their weed needs – everything from help applying for a recommendation online to advice on how to use the various tinctures, creams, pills and bud forms of cannabis.
Seniors and Weed – A Personal Connection
Ms Tice’s personal history inspired her to leave a career in video games to form this company. Her Grandmother experienced significant and instant reduction in symptoms of Alzheimers with the use of topical mmj creams. Ms. Tice learned quickly that seniors are the least served potential users of cannabis and may just be the most in need.
This idea is catching on with investors as well. Octavia Wellness has attracted support to the tune of $300,000 and is on track to raise $1M next year. This creative idea may thrive, especially as recreational cannabis becomes de rigeur and acceptance of the plant continues to reach into more conservative enclaves.

Hello! It seems to me that it is safer for older people to use cannabis as a relaxation agent than alcohol. I think this video will be interesting if you are interested in this topic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWfjGpB7uiY
